Martial Arts Experience
· 1963 Started Judo with Sensei, Les Fazekas at the Lorain YMCA. · 1982 Began working with Senseis, Ed and Grace Akiya at Mid-east Judo Academy at Cudell Recreation Center Cleveland, OH. Started teaching under the M.O.V.E (Mayor's Operation Volunteer Effort) program under the direction of Akiya Sensei. · 1982 Began learning Aikido/Aiki Jujutsu from Akiya Sensei. · 1983 Began teaching Aikido/Aiki Jujutsu under the direction of Akiya Sensei, again as part of the M.O.V.E (Mayor's Operation Volunteer Effort) program. · 1990-1996 Taught a few summers at Shodokan Judo Camp Vermilion, OH. · 1995-1999 Taught Judo and Aikido/Aiki Jujutsu at Chu To Bu Martial Arts Academy in Parma, OH, and Estabrook Recreation Center Cleveland, OH with Senseis Paul Jordan and Michael Mooney. · 1997 Began study of T'ai Chi Ch'uan under the direction of Sifu, Tim Loomis · 2002 Began teaching T'ai Chi with direction from Sifu Loomis.
Judo Competition
1963-1996 Competed in many local, regional, national, and international Judo tournaments:
AmCam - American Canadian Challenge Cup (Best finish was a 3rd place in 1988) USJI Senior Nationals: Florida, Michigan, Indianapolis, Chicago Regional Events: Chicago Open, Michigan State Championships, Ohio State Championships, Akiya Invitational (Placed in top three in many of these events).
Officiating
Tournament Director and Referee in many local and regional Judo tournaments over a 20 year period starting in 1982.
